When her son Joynal disappears on a perilous boat journey from Bangladesh to Malaysia, Amena refuses to accept that he may never return. For nearly a decade, she searches for answers, sustained by the hope that he is still alive. With the help of Abdus, a survivor of the same trafficking route, she retraces her son’s journey and confronts those responsible for his disappearance. When a photograph of imprisoned migrants reveals a face resembling Joynal’s, her search takes an unexpected turn. Set against the haunting landscapes of the Bay of Bengal, Ghost Boat is an intimate portrait of a mother’s unwavering hope and the human cost of migration.
